Foot-in-mouth Harry hears from soldiers

"Now I believe, myself, that the secretary of state, the secretary of defense and you have to make your own decision as to what the president knows: that this war is lost, that the surge is not accomplishing anything."

Quote by Harry Reid, US Senate Majority Leader, in 4/20/2007 NYTs

Let's change that headline. Harry's foot has been in his mouth for years. He's just removing one and inserting the other until his next absurd statement.

And
it was to come just one day later.

"No matter how frustrating the fight in Iraq can be, no matter how much we wish this war was over, the security of our country depends directly on the outcome of Iraq," Bush told an audience at East Grand Rapids High School, vowing to keep troops in Iraq until the job is done.

Reid, D-Nev., fired back at Bush, saying "no one wants us to succeed in Iraq more than Democrats."

Really? Dems want to succeed? Coulda fooled me. They've done nothing but hinder the efforts from day one with nary a hint at a better way to wage the war sans pulling the troops out... slowly so they can be targeted at their backs when leaving... and leave the Iraqis to their own fate.

But I doubt Harry's completely idiotic mischaracterization about Dems and their supposed desire for success will sway the boys and girls on the front. They know how to spot a spade. And after an open invitation from Michelle Malkin, there's more than a few
soldiers speaking up here and here.

True gentlemen that they are, they have all worded their extreme disgust and shame at having Harry represent the US with as much aplomb and civility as possible. But there is no mistaking their message to the Senate leader.

Such eloquence in those soldiers' writing! And such accuracy in their characterization of Mr. Reid. I feel both gratitude and optimism that some of these men will eventually number among the political leaders of this nation. Would that our present crop have even a fraction of their character.

I think our newer crop has it's gems as well. They just need the seasoning of time to become as sage.

And oh but if we had more of all of them in the US, Rastus. See my post, Pelosi & Reid's America" just above INRE the political savvy of our nation. Finding "the best of us" in our midst is getting more difficult.
