I was in the San Francisco Bay Area at the time of this debate. I had graduated from highschool, and I was working at a job. A coworker and I had been having numerous conversations about the political events of the time. And he told me about this debate at Yale. Here it is in pdf form.
To me, this debate signalled an omen, and with alarm: Freedom to debate, openly, rigorously, intelligently was being shut down at American Universities under the banner of "activist students".
Read the document. I highly recommend it. The Names of those involved will bring back waves of memories for some, and new insight for others. Abbie Hoffman, Roy Innis......
