Roberts confirmation hearings vent

MATA MUSING... or shall I say "venting":


Monitoring day two of the Roberts confirmation hearings while doing computer work. And what a joke our Congressional members are in action.

Roberts has, thus far, kept his cool despite personal assaults and Senators determined to use all their questions time for their own soapboxes and attempts to take down the President. Those acting the most like petulant children that I saw? Kennedy, Leahy, and Biden. I only caught a reaction (if you can call it such) of Feinstein with her sourpuss face immobile thru the Kennedy onslaught. Sure wish I had caught her in action, but the day is young. Oooo..wheee... can't wait. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Kennedy's chutzpah was accusing Roberts of being "mean-spirted" in his writings and attitudes, then aptly demonstrating the epitome of mean-spirted himself. He was admonished several times by Chair Specter for interrupting Roberts, and refusing to let the nominee answer his long winded questions and verbal assaults.

This was, of course, followed Kennedy's opening remarks which (like yesterday) started with Katrina, then followed up with not-so-subtle reflections on disenfranchised voters. Shades of 2000 "chad" controversies? For a man who can't seem to forget, one has to wonder how Chappaquidick manages to escape this steel trap mind. HA! This is obviously a Senator who has lost his ability to focus or triage issues, and prefers to focus on partisan advancement. Why don't they just remove the man from office and let him work with Howard Dean, for criminy sakes...

Biden also refused to allow Roberts to speak and enjoyed multiple "let the man answer" disciplinary slaps from Specter. Same delivery but different words as Kennedy. Then again, individuality and novelty isn't the liberal way, as they seek "diversity" by conformity, unequal distribution of wealth, and dubious "equality" with programs such as Affirmative Action. No surprise that Biden and Kennedy appear as clones in their onslaught.

What is the most pointed in listening to these hearings is the inflated egos enjoyed by most of the Congressional members. Listening to them, one comes away with the feeling that they believe executive and judicial branches are optional in this country . That they feel no one can run this country better than they. Humility is not one of their personal assets.

Disgusting and embarrassing display of politics all in all. How is it we continue to elect these bozos year after year?
