I would watch for ACLU only going after "religion" in politics. I think you will discover more Academics at the K-12 proposing a moral/value-based structure in the schools. Of course, what is being put forward, by my estimates, it is the secular church values.
Been watching it build.
Most recent example? District may alter hiring policy: Richland 2 might end affirmative action, open hiring to TERI participants
Do a search on Stephen Hefner. Like, this article: Students lend voices to civic mission
Stephen Hefner, superintendent for Richland School District Two in Columbia, S.C., brought along a team of students and staff to assist him with a workshop entitled “Restoring the Civic Mission of Schools.” The presentation shared the significance of civic engagement, citizenship and social responsibility within the public schools.
The students he brought with him to the Administrator's Council are connected with Youth Action Council. Do the search on "youth action council".
Caught another article this morning about a principle in NC restoring "prayer in school". Is this principle with the conservative or liberal (secularist) wing of the church he attends?
Of course, the ACLU has no problems with Cindy Sheehan making "politics" while waving the "religion" banner (prayers, crosses). And nor do the usual Dems and liberals. Not a word are they uttering in request she not use "religious symbols".
THIS, IMHO, is the "re-framing of "values" " that Dems are up to. Of course, the spread is larger than that. The South already has too much involvement with a curious group called "Crossroads Ministry". Wachovia (reparations) used them. Dittos, First Union. And many others. Meanwhile Black Femme Southern Legislators and Activists are railing for a very special "domestic violence" program to be brought into the states. It goes on, and on.
This is what the Lakoff "reframing", and the Dean Screams, are up to. IMHO. Of course.
