Did the Press Uncover Watergate?

Excellent recounting, dated July 1974, authored by Edward Jay Epstein. Hat tip: National Review.

One small snip:

The General Accounting Office, an arm of Congress, and Common Cause, a quasi-public foundation, meanwhile forced Republican officials to disclose information about campaign contributions which indirectly added to the publicity about Watergate. Preliminary legal actions taken by the prosecutors (as well as the Florida state's attorney) also divulged important elements of the case.

Boggles the mind why anyone gives a rat's tail for this nonsense now. To quote Shakespeare, IMHO, "much ado about nothing" is my assessment about the Deep Throat Revealed redux Yawn...

Afterall, W & B didn't "break" the story, Deep Throat's identity actually means little in the scheme of things. Why are we wasting beaucoup airtime on this BS when there is so much going on in the world?

Then again, it does keep the lackadaisical, haphazard, sensational-scandal-searching, conspiracy minded MSM busy and out of other areas, doesn't it?

BTW, as far as I'm concerned, THE most interesting character to listen to on the subject is the thief himself, Liddy. Then again, I've always been fascinated with "heist" stories. Even bungled ones! LOL

Earlier today, I read "Liddy" transcripts from his show and elsewhere. He held no punches! I enjoyed it very much!

The DT part -- is just part of the circus the Dems are attempting to ressurect. That is the only part I find truly interesting -- exactly how, (what steps, what players coming to bat) they are walking into a dark pit of their own creation and manufacture. I enjoy watching the set-up.

And this one is going to hurt them.
