Canada Gets America's "losers"

Yesterday's draft dodgers help today's war resisters
Vietnam-era men offer aid in Canada to Iraq deserters

Mata Musing:

Oh Canada... Amazing attitude towards the US. What hutzpah.

Then again, it looks like all those thousands of expatriate 'Nam draft dodgers have done their fair share in helping Canadians create the current climate of a self-serving, pious citizenry - a country who does little more than contribute lip service to the world. Better these former American losers live there than here, IMHO.

Yet when Canada is in trouble, who is it they turn to for protection but their southern neighbor? I repeat... what hutzpah.

The few young men headed to Canada thru this new "underground" are fools. Not only will Canada, high on anti-Americanism right now, not welcome them with open arms, but even Canadian employers will not leap at the chance to offer employment opportunities to deserters. The mere act of running away instead of facing a self-inflicted dilemma says much about one's character.

Well now... the loss of a few too cowardly to accept either a dishonorable discharge, or to serve out their contract with the country is nothing to mourn. I can only say... Buh bye! I'm sure you will find ample kindred spirits in your new nation.
