Spinning the Election Results

Colorado's The Daily Sentinel

Mata Musing:

This article is filled with too much "good stuff" to even do an excerpt. It is worthy of a read in it's entirety.

And long over due, IMHO. I've been wondering when I would finally see an election analysis that shot down the nonsensical "moral values elected Bush" mantras, being espoused by the disgruntled Dems since Nov 3rd.

Using that as the excuse for their loss enables the Dems to claim the high moral ground, while simultaneously embedding the absurd notion that there is some sort of Christian jihad afoot in the nation.

The main flaws with that argument start with the source of the conclusion - the election exit polls.

Ummmm... would that be the same exit polls that pointed to a decisive Kerry victory?

Add to that pile of manure the fact that so many local candidates thru out the nation that were pro-life did not enjoy the same success as Dubya. Or the fact that the gay marriage issue was shot down in every state where the initiative appeared, despite the blue state status for the office of the Presidency.

The above linked Daily Sentinel article lays out the flaws for the Dems reasoning using Colorado... hardly a bastion of Christian extreme fanatics... as a prime example.

This argument was seized on solely to further erode the world community's view of the US... which was never much favorable towards us anyway. In the effort to save face, the Dems' use this inaccurate portrayal of Americans as extremist wackos in order to further thwart the efforts of the WOT, and hamper the relationships with the int'l community.

Along the Sentinels' line of thought, another offering debunking the "God voter" comes from the Pittsburg Post-Gazette, Did Kerry lose because liberals mock conservative Christians?

It's time even more journalists spent some time debunking the universal misrepresentation as to the "whys" of Bush's second term. And it's way overdue that the losers in this election start pulling for the Afghans, Iraqis and American coalition's success, instead of their failure.
