ACLU vs the Minutemen

ACLU Suspends Southern Chapter Over Minuteman Issue
Associated Press, from the Albequerque Journal

While the ACLU hasn't figured out a way to drag the civilian border watch groups - The Minutemen - into court yet, there can be no doubt they hold no love for the project.

Gary Mitchell, a Ruidoso attorney and president of the ACLU board of directors made no effort to hide his unmitigated distain by saying:

"We will not tolerate racism and vigilantism in the leadership structure of our organization,'' Mitchell said. "They are repugnant to the principles of civil liberties and the mission of the ACLU.''

That said, he then suspended the Las Cruces, NM chapter of the ACLU. Why? Because the chapter's leader was at the forefront in organizing a spinoff Minuteman group.

Uh ohhhh... dissention in the ACLU ranks? Hummm... Can't have that. And what was that BS Mitchell was spouting about repugnancy and the "principles" of civil liberties? Must be something they save for pompous court arguments, for they certainly don't apply it in real life.

Frankly I wish at least one in EVERY ACLU chapter in the nation would do the same. Suspend 'em all, I say. And someone, I think TrekMed agrees... LOL
