Reparations

Mata, I've been digging around the Reparations movement. There are tentacles in a lot of strange places.

***
Sometimes, it's just onerous to find out pegs and links to the stuff which makes headlines.

One thing that First Union and Wachovia have in common? The Hiring and use of an organization called "Crossroads Institute". Crossroads Institute and Crossroads Ministry -- are connected. Both "entities" do seminars on ALCOHOLISM, MENTAL HEALTH, aging, etc. More recently, exciting news was posted about "Crossroads Ministery" in connection to a pub ed "diversity" seminar at Guilford County Schools

The Crossroads Institute: CROSSROADS ANTI-RACISM WORKSHOPS SCHEDULED
snip:

"Identifying the historical structures of racism can be a difficult task. When identified, they can not be changed overnight. The Institute will help provide ongoing consultation and a process for community organizations and institutions ready to put in place 5-10-20 year plans to root out racism from their own structures. Winston-Salem Institute for Dismantling Racism CROSSROADS ANTI-RACISM WORKSHOPS SCHEDULED In collaboration with the Mayor's Racial Healing Committee, The Institute schedules 2 1/2 day anti-racism workshops provided by the staff of Crossroads Institute. Workshops: Choose August 11-13, August 29-31, November 17-19, or December 5-7, ***2005***. Attendance for the complete workshop is essential. It is recommended that each church or community association send at least two together, in order to get the most out of bringing the workshop back to the larger group. For more information about upcoming workshops, contact Rev. Willard Bass, 336-722-8379.

Then, looking up "Wachovia" and "diversity consultants":

Mark Grove snip:

Mark Grove, President of Career Conferences of America, Inc., is the former Director of Staffing & Diversity/EEO at Aetna for nine years. Prior to his Aetna service, he was the Human Resource & Diversity/EEO at Yale University.

[Mark Grove] he received "The White House Presidential Merit Award" for developing and implementing one of the top youth employment & affirmative action programs in the country.

Mark has been president of Career Conference of America, Inc since it's inception in **1986***. He has taken a small company, with one conference, to now one of the world's leaders in college recruitment conferences, as well as minority and international recruiting.

"For over 26 years, I have championed the policy that a strong diversity program makes good business sense. By 2005, women and minorities will comprise 75% of the workforce. Employers must focus their efforts and resources on diversity programs, in good times and in difficult times. They much do more to recruit, retains, develop, and promote women and minorities. Reaching out to this diverse talent pool is the first step, and The Career Forum for Women and Minorities can support this important objective."

Mark Grove came from Aetna, after being the Human Resource and Diversity/EEO at Yale University.

The History of Career Conferences of America, Inc.

snip:

" CCA's first career event, in New York City in ***1987*** drew 17 employers and 300 graduating college seniors. Based on the success of this initial conference, events were added in Atlanta, Chicago and Washington, DC. In January ***2000*** these four Careers 2000 recruitment conferences hosted over 350 employers and more than 8,000 students.
..
In ***1995***, in collaboration with the top-50 ranked U.S. MBA programs, CCA produced the International MBA Consortium Employment Conference {now called -- Global MBA/Masters Employment Conference). Now in its eighth year, this Conference has become the world's premier interviewing forum for foreign national masters students seeking employment in their home countries, other countries where they are authorized to work, and the United States.

ENOUGH FOR NOW. I've got enuf data to choke a horse.

Synopsing what I've dug up: Basically, it looks like "diversity" machinery entered in through the Medical/Life Insurance "porthole". Under which presidency, eh?

John Conyers has been trying to get a "reparations" bill on the table since ***1989***. Refer: (a keeper article, IMHO): Reparations for blacks are an idea whose time is now

ancillary: 40 Acres and a Luxury Sedan: The case for and against slavery reparations. snip:

"The question of slavery reparations was raised at an April 26, ***2000*** joint hearing of the Chicago City Council Finance and Human Relations committees. U.S. Rep. Bobby Rush (D-IL) told the committees that, "The future of race relations will be determined by reparations for slavery," according to a Chicago Tribune report. The committees heard testimonies from Rush along with Claud Anderson, author of "Black Labor White Wealth; The Search for Power and Economic Justice," Lerone Bennett, executive editor of Ebony magazine and U.S. Rep. Danny Davis (D-IL), among others. For her part, Ald. Carrie Austin (34th) joked following her comments, "I want 40 acres and a Lexus," referring to a post-Civil War promise that former slaves would receive 40 acres of land and a mule". ***.

MORE RECENT STUFF: Reparations and INSURANCE POLICIES: (a KEEPER ARTICLE):Slave Insurance Policies Uncovered: The Call for Reparations

snip:

"On September 30, ***2000***, California's Governor Davis signed into law two bills that could eventually lead the way to the payment of reparations to the descendants of slaves. Under the Slaveholder Insurance Policies Bill (SB 2199) California's Insurance Commissioner has the power to request slave insurance policies from insurers doing business in California. The second law, the UC Slavery Colloquium Bill (SB 1737) allows the University of California the option to hold a conference on the economics of slavery. Organizations such as Jesse Jackson's Rainbow/PUSH Coalition and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) supported the California bills. "

next snip:

"... The National Loan Fund Life Assurance Company of London distributed a circular entitled "A Method by Which Slave Owners May Be Protected From Loss" in which it named The Merchants Bank and The Leather Manufacturers Bank as institutions able to pay and adjust claims. The circular also included the names of medical examiners in Virginia, Washington DC, and North Carolina who were authorized to examine slaves and offer insurance policies. Under a typical policy, a 30-year-old slave could be insured for $500 with an annual premium of about $11.25.

The circular has exposed that Chase Manhattan was connected with slave insurance policies based upon its merger with two of the banks named in the circular. In 1920, the Merchants Bank merged with The Bank of the Manhattan Company, and in 1955 it merged with Chase. In 1904, The Leather Manufacturers Bank merged with The Mechanics National Bank, and then in 1926 merged with Chase. However, Chase is not alone, it has also been uncovered that Aetna was involved in slavery as well. In March of 2000, Aetna issued a public apology for its involvement in underwriting policies in the 1850s. Other companies include, New York Life, American Life Insurance Co., and Baltimore Life Insurance Co., which is not related to the present day insurer, The Baltimore Life Companies. "

I think, right about here is where Mark Grove comes into larger attention; alongside AETNA, in for special attention?... Dick Huber... and his involvement with President Clinton's New Markets Initiative November ***1999***.

Whew. There's so much more.

At any rate, I saw a blurb on a Jim Williams (NC) who was not only a Sr. Systems Analyst, Wachovia; but also Executive Director of Crossroads Ministry.

My post above is scatty; but I've got to get offline. Again, Reparations began with (and the allies of) D-John Conyers, dating back to (poss.pre-) ***1989***. Seems to have gotten attention 'possibly' during those great secret "medical" hearings under the Clinton Admin; and split along the lines of "healthcare and life insurance".

Just tip of the iceberg stuff.

Oh. And First Union Bank: Customer Care
"First Union Corporation was profiled as one of the "101 Companies that Profit from Customer Care," a book citing "role models for the new American manager." The highly acclaimed book praises First Union for its quality program, for its aggressive "mystery shopping" program by an independent firm and for its in-depth market research into customer definitions of service. "

"In ***1995***, First Union was selected by Working Mother magazine as one of the "100 Best Companies" for working mothers in the nation. "

What does it appear to me after hours and hours digging? Wachovia may have had to do this and not have insurance. I dunno. More digging required. And As of the First Union/Wachovia merger -- Wachovia was 5th largest banking entity is the US. Take a look at who is larger, IMHO (some cited above) then more of the pieces start to fall into place.

I'm not against outsourcing; in some cases, I think these "diversity programs" came and were entered into corporations simply to "educate" and pave the way for "outsourcing". Bringing up 3rd world incomes. Meanwhile, back at the ranch here in the US; the "reparations/medical/ins" leviathan seeks to defund these corporations? Quite a possibility, no?

Also, through all of my digging, one article, in particular is HYPER, hyperlinked:

How the Irish Became White
A sermon by Art MacDonald, Ph.D.

So, what do I think. *HillaryCare meetings of the 90s** was pivotal. It's where a lot of this got going in re Crossroads, insurance policies domestic and broad.. Aetna was a big player (as were others, of course); But the godzilla, IMHO, has gotten its hand around medical and insurance (various) in re the large corporations. Of course, we know from CA -- attempts to force less than 50-people employers to CARRY healthcare (etc.,).. the beast is definitely on the move.

American Spectator, June 27, 2005: Commission Commissars "Dossier Democrats"

Republican staffers on such federal agencies as the Federal Communications Commission and the Securities and Exchange Commission are concerned about a growing trend they fear is giving Democrats and far-left careerists information to be used for political gain.

According to an outside consultant working for phone giant SBC, the amount of information being collected by federal agencies for the approval of its merger with AT&T is far and away the most proprietary information they have ever had to surrender to the government.

There something else going on here," says the consultant. "The type of material they are asking for, about deployment of resources customer ethnic background, that isn't the type of material the FCC has looked at in the past. It's almost like the career staff there is taking advantage of a situation to get at material they otherwise might not be able to request."
