The AIDs Plot thickens

Dispute over generics stalls treatment efforts
By John Donnelly, Boston Globe

As a companion piece to Alia's "AIDing disease" post below on June 10th... oh my, we are being lax on commentary here on Sea2Sea, eh? LOL... I offer up this little ditty on African nations refusing to accept USFDA approved generic AIDs drugs.

Just as implied by so many of late, Alia not withstanding, one must wonder if finding a cure to the disease, or even helping those afflicted is at the top of the list of activists and African leaders.l

Or is it more about AID dollars? More specifically that less "AID" money may be allocated to the African nations to purchase the more cost effective drugs. It do cut down the benefits for the "hands in the cookie jar", don't it?

Take it away, Alia....

Four countries -- Nigeria, Uganda, Ethiopia, and Tanzania -- have told South African generic drug maker Aspen Pharmacare that its FDA approval for antiretroviral drugs had no standing in their regulatory reviews of medicine, and that they have long required a study of the drug's safety and quality from the World Health Organization, officials confirmed in interviews last week.

I had a long conversation with several friends about this earlier this week.
(Actually, it was about how both Zimbabwe and South African have gone to hell since white-minority governments there were kicked out, but I digress)

Anyway,..what can be said of governments like SA's, who still believe that AIDS is nothing more than a curse from some animalist diety??

I say, we offered them a solution and they've slammed the door on Western medicine. So, move on to countries and civilizations that will accept our help.
