Militants Kill Gaza Settler

It didn't take long. Palestinian terrorsts have let Abbas know, in no uncertain terms, that his calls for a cease fire do not apply to them.
Militants from Islamic Jihad cut thru the much touted Israeli "wall", planted bombs on an Israeli patrol road, detonated them as a jeep approached and opened fire, killing one settler and wounding three Israeli soldiers. One of the terrorists were killed, and another had run off before the jeep arrived.
Was he enroute to a second, more deadly mission inside the walls? We won't know... he sleeps with da fishes. And good riddance, IMHO.
"Our heroic attack today responds to those who describe such attacks as the smaller jihad that must end," Islamic Jihad spokesman Abu Abdallah said. "It will never end until Palestine is returned, through the barrel of our guns."
Well now.. if that ain't a flying finger in the face of Abbas, and his talks of peace. This is the first assault since his triumph in the election. And it appears to be a challenge not only to Israel, but to Abbas himself.
Latest poll numbers put support for Palestinian terrorists at 25%... fully 1/4 of the country sides with these monsters.
In the meantime, leadership of both countries are running the political maze... calling each other with congratulations, expressing hopes for peace.
It's going to take more than talk for this to happen. And Israel should, in no way, back down from defending themselves from their avowed enemies. Palestine and Abbas must make the first move, reining in the activities of their own terrorists.

Pardon my,..er,...(Italian?), but if Abbas has any balls and wants to make brownie points with the people who can make his life longer and easier, he should deal with scum like this swiftly.
Talking to Sharon and GWB is fine. DOING something is better.
no "sheeeeeet", TrekMed. The world waits with you and I to see what he plans to do. Yet it was only last week he said he'd never use force against them, and called them "freedom fighters".
But I hate to dash hopes so soon. The world seems to be quite high on the possibility of peace.
But I expect that there will have to be a bloodbath in Palestine before that happens - a battle between Palestinians who want peace, and those who want to kill Jews.
I used to think "history" was boring when I was a kid in school. Now, as an adult, watching the world around me daily, I think I must have either had bad teachers, or I was crazy! Watching it in the making is anything but boring.
It is, however, on too many occasions, heartbreaking.
