Bitch fight! Bitch fight!

Feinstein, Boxer squaring off over Rice nomination
ERICA WERNER, Associated Press

This I'm going to enjoy watching.... Boxer and Feinstein dukin' it out. LOL! Who would believe it?

WASHINGTON - The two high-profile women who represent California in the Senate are squaring off over a third - Condoleezza Rice, the president's nominee to be secretary of state.

Dianne Feinstein, the senior and more moderate of the two Democratic senators, supports Rice and plans to introduce her Tuesday at a confirmation hearing before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

That's where Barbara Boxer, a member of the committee, will be waiting to accuse Rice of misleading the public over the war in Iraq, which she opposed and Feinstein supported.

"I personally believe that your loyalty to the mission you were given overwhelmed your respect for the truth," Boxer plans to tell Rice, according to prepared remarks released Friday.

The anticipation of a mudfest aside, I do find myself in a mental quandry here. I'm no fan of Feinstein, and even less one of Boxer. But the problem is I'm also one of those less than excited about Condie taking over Colin Powell's position.

So now I find myself square in the middle of two women, neither one which I can abide. Yik...

But I'm one to give Condie a chance. I certainly don't believe she lied or fabricated facts inre Iraq and WMDs. So I have no commonality with Boxer. And, for once, I'm hoping that Ms. Feinstein is right and I am wrong... that Condie is indeed a good candidate for the task ahead.

Amazing isn't it? That she has such faith in one that is accused of being Bush's echo. I must say, I can't help but find that suspicious. Either she likes the girl, or else she thinks Condie will screw up so badly, it will make Bush look the fool.

Only time will tell.

Boxer is a droid. Feinstein is more "palatable". Feinstein is angling to keep her seats on very important commissions. And/or angling for a new one. She ain't doing this because she "supports" Condi, per se. I, for one, support Condi. She's very smooth; very knowledgeable, very capable.

No pun intended; but, erm, Feinstein doesn't wish to be left in the desert (yuk yuk) where most her party is headed.
