Andy Card to Stay On As Bush Chief of Staff

Bravo! And thank YOU, Andy Card.

"One of most disciplined White Houses in recent memory - things happen on time, officials don't stray off-message - is largely a product of trust, not fear, aides say. "

However...

"Any time a White House gets complimented for running a tight ship ... you have to give the chief of staff credit for that," said Leon Panetta, one of several men who held the post under President Clinton.

Still, he said a tightly controlled White House environment can inhibit the free discussion a president sometimes needs. Panetta says he hears from former colleagues in Congress that there are no longer "the kind of open exchanges that there have been in the past."

ROFL! My, my Mr. Panetta -- no more wasted time in fruitless mental and verbal masturbations? Those were what constituted "work" under the Clinton Presidency -- and YOU saw what happened in result, no? Rumor-mongering was the catchword of the day to describe "work" in the Clinton Admin.

"Dialog." "Let's dialogue". "Let's interface".

Blech. The 70s have passed (thank goodness), Mr. Panetta. What a waste of time was this "dialoging" crapola of the 70s. And for Mr. Panetta to think there aren't meetings where thoughts are thrown on the table is only to show Mr. Panetta's resentment that he's not AT THAT TABLE.
'nuff said.
