Media thwarts progress in Democratic Iraq

Woof... what a surprise. The "public" thinks chances are slim for a democratic Iraq? Small wonder with the MSM reporting nothing but violence and chaos.

Take for example the opening paragraph...

WASHINGTON - Americans’ confidence that a stable, democratic government can be established in Iraq has eroded since last spring, according to an Associated Press poll taken amid continuing violence ahead of next month’s election.

... "taken amid continuing violence". They never cease to drive home the successes of the Islamic terrorists. Or as one soldier said so long ago, "we win on the ground, but lose in the media".

There is no doubt our military is giving a stellar performance under the worst of conditions. Even the strategic diplomatic, humanitarian and economic wars are making slow headway against all odds.

But it is obvious we are losing the propaganda war. The soldiers in this front are the free press. Yet we are losing "winning their hearts and minds". Why? Because the media does not side with democracy for Iraq. Plain and simple.

Instead, the MSM, who delights in hanging on every word the terrorists utter, apparently overlooks their own part in this war. Instead of providing a well rounded picture of a developing Iraq, and the effect a free Iraq will have on terrorist bases, they focus only on the negative.

And that is a sure way to impede the Iraqi progress.

Of course, equally ignored by the MSM was how well the Kurdish North proliferated as a multicultural society during the years of the US no-fly zone.

When the Untied Nations got involved in post-Saddam Iraq, did we see how quickly the Kurds were marginalized by the UN?? Of course not. UNN/MSM glimpsed over that in their mad rush to show "innocents" being killed by our troops.

If a stable democracy is to exist in Iraq, they central government needs to first look to the north and get past some serious conceits.
