Gold Star Column of the Day: Jed Babbin
Superbly crafted, exquisitely communicated.

I've had some pretty fancy security clearances, and heard about some pretty fancy stuff. Call me old-fashioned, but it seems to me that when we're about to spend a few billion Yankee dollars on a stealthy reconnaissance satellite, its merits shouldn't be debated on the front page of the Washington ComPost and the New Yawk Times.

Yes, and the leaky little snips and whips on the Intel Committee and the (911 "committee") are pulling an in-yer-face. Clinton at least was honest, in his fashion: He sold US Nuclear Secrets to the Chinese, and was openly proud of that. But, these other "in the name of open-ness" are simply pleading innocent and "public integrity" in talking about matters (leaking?) which may bring them votes and "good vibes" on the sidelines.
In re Babbin, again: "media want[ing] to use Mr. Rumsfeld as a piƱata because many Humvees and trucks lack the "up armor" kits to give them and those who ride in them some protection from small arms fire..."
I have another question. How is it the same weenie media and politicos deign the psychologic graffiti, painted by soldiers on US vehicles -- as "evil". Is this not proper arming of our Military by our Military?
Yes, it is.
So, when's the media going to draft gang-bangers for military hiring to do professional "paint jobs" on our vehicles of war?
Yes, yes, it's a small point... but it is in the line with the entire Abu Ghraib fashion show: The media and politicos shuddered in indignant rage and horror over what was done to prisoners of war. Yes, it was out of line with military protocol -- but did it in fact, possibly, facilitate if not encourage the "kill or be killed" mentality among the enemy? Given their ideologic penchant for "preservation, esteem and respect" of manhood?
I'll wager, from what I've studied, there'd be more prisoners than dead had the lefty idiotes not gone hog wild over ensuring everyone the world over saw the photos of the "abuse" of prisoners at Abu Ghraib.
OTOH, this "killed US Military or be Killed" mentality did force a stand-off. We lost many fine military in the process -- but even more (lots more) of the insurgents lost their lives in the ensuing fights post Abu Ghraib (rather than be taken captive and have their genitals looked at).
Therefore, insurgent blood is on the hands of Lib-Democrats.
Mona Charen is right -- they are useful idiots.
And best of all? Those with eyes to see and ears to hear -- know this. So, let's throw them some more "possibilities". They'll run to the bank on these, leak these out right and left -- and thereby ensure the destruction of America's enemies.
If domestic American enemies will not read the classics, they've only themselves to blame.
"I weep for you," the Walrus said:
"I deeply sympathize."
With sobs and tears he sorted out
Those of the largest size,
Holding his pocket-handkerchiefs
Before his streaming eyes.
"O Oysters," said the Carpenter,
"You've had a pleasant run!
Shall we be trotting home again?"
But answer came there none—
And this was scarcely odd, because
They'd eaten every one."
****
Yes, yes...ado building over US trade imbalances. The above ought to correct this quite neatly over a short period of time.
