House Dems Seek to Destroy Faith in Elections

By Rick Klein, The Boston Globe

Mata Musing:

Rather than put any excerpts from the Globe article, I'll just suggest you read it yourselves.

I've been watching MSNBC's Keith Olbermann's attempts to whip this up into a frenzied story now for the past couple of days. Spearheading the assault on the Presidential election results - naturally concentrated on Ohio and Florida anomalies - are Dem Representatives John Conyers Jr. of Michigan, Jerrold Nadler of New York and Robert Wexler of Florida.

On Olbermann's Countdown Monday show was Conyers, waiving the banner of BS, "What we‘re trying to do is improve the process, make America know that what happened in 2000 and now what is happening here ", while simultaneously, artfully dodging the host's repeated questions "what would you do if you found out it changed the election results?"

Right.... And the Easter Bunny is filling in for Santa Claus this year.

Quite frankly, I found the calls for an investigation, driven more likely by the desperate attempts to either insert Kerry into the WH or to minimize perceived support for Bush, truly distasteful and counterproductive for "reaching across the aisle".

I don't believe there's a voter around that thinks that there will ever be an election without flaws. Nor do I think that computer voting machines, more easily hacked and tampered with, are a better way to go than old fashioned hand ballots - chads and all.

What I do believe is that, if these disgruntled Dems have their way, they accomplish nothing more than shaking the faith of the American voter in *any* election, thereby tearing down the very foundation of our method of choosing leadership.

And that, IMHO, is nothing more than yet another anti-American goal.
