Oh knock it off, will ya?

AP Paris

PARIS — One-upping the United States, France said Thursday it is the No. 1 donor for the Asian disaster — pledging 42 million euro ($57 million) — following barbs from Washington about the extent of French generosity.

Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin's (search) boast that France was vaulting to "the head of all the contributors" appeared to respond to comments from Andrew Natsios (search), chief of the U.S. Agency for International Development, which distributes American aid.

(snip) read the BS in entirety at link above... if you think it's worth your time

Mata Musing

Amazing how politics insists on muddying the waters in real life, yes?

Sri Lanka refuses help from Israel because of their objection to the "military composition" of the rescue team. What were they thinking? That Israel sought to militarily subdue the victims of Sri Lanka??

Now it's a "I'm better than you" contest.

The US did not start this "me, me, me" contest. Nor should anyone have brought up the contributions of others in retaliation to the "stingy" remark. We were correct in defending ourselves, but not slapping others down in the process.

Politicos everywhere are behaving badly, as well as the MSM. No surprise, but it should would be good if we could all tell them to put a sock in it!

Grr-rr-rr-rr. The more of these posts I've read today, Mata, the more furious I'm getting!

Personally, I'm glad to see our "true" allies (Australia, Japan, etc) circumnavigate the inept bureacratic nonsense that is the Untied Nations!

BTW - I'm going to "steal" some of this for my page!

BTW2 - Have a Happy New Year!

"Steal" all you wish, TrekMed. Afterall, we "pajamahadeen" merely move the news along with some perspective added, yes? I like to think of it as constructive plagurism. LOL

BTW, a Happy New Year to your bad self as well. Hope your ambulance stays empty for the night!
