Miami illegals whine about scrutiny

A report by an immigrant rights group accused federal officials of intimidating refugees and undocumented migrants in Florida. Officials denied the allegation.

ALFONSO CHARDY - The Miami Herald

When foreign nationals arrive at Miami International Airport and ask for asylum, some wind up criminally charged for trying to sneak into the country with false papers. Others are detained, some for months, before their cases are decided.

Prosecution and detention of asylum seekers are among the examples cited in a new report by a Miami-based immigrant rights group of what it says is growing intimidation of refugees and undocumented migrants in Florida and across the country.

What a crock. Enter the country illegally, then cry "foul" for INS enforcement. They ought to try this in Italy, or one of those "liberal elitist" EU nations... Out on their ear they'd be!

Let me make this very clear. I am the granddaughter of immigrants... from the Ukraine and from Hungary. My parents were the first generation born in this fabulous country, and I count my lucky stars each and every day for their arduous struggle so long ago.

But my grandparents bear no resemblance to those entering the country now. Instead they came in thru legal channels. They set about making this new country their home - completely - in their attitudes, their loyalties, their businesses, and their culture. They did not strive to remain Hungarian and Ukrainian, and they used no hyphen in their Americanism.

Unlike the immigrants thru Ellis Island of old, the new waves of immigrants include far too many who adamantly refuse to integrate into the American society. They refuse to learn the language, and almost all insist on being classified as hyphenated Americans. Ultimately the majority still consider the countries they left behind "home".

Frankly, a country can only absorb so many at a time each year. And if we're going to set standards for those with priority of entry, then the first standard of a new foreign resident should be their desire to acclimate and become Americans.

Personally I'm glad enforcement of immigration laws has stepped up since the WOT. We had no choice, and it is long overdue.

Illegals themselves say life is good here... so "why not for me too!". Well, darlin'... it ain't even karma, necessarily. It's just the way it is. We are all born "unequal" in life. And of course, illegal immigrant activists -- constantly bray out that old juvenile adage "It's Not Fair!".

Then there are the "no borders" socialists who decry that America is a "special club". Really, this particular brand of Americans should simply renounce their citizenship. But they won't. Instead they'll go buggery over claiming to be fighting for those "not in the club".

The whole issue is so darned boring and dull. America is a country; not a country club. In order for the peaceful habitation and coexistence of its citizens -- there are rules.

Illegals break those rules and then claim "victim" status. Heh. Like they don't know they should try to enter through legal means.

It's just like the gay marriage argument; IMHO. There are rules; the gay activists wanna break those rules and then wonder why no one treats them with much respect. They then cry "homophobe"! (illegals cry: "Racists").

I wonder how many of the "divorce rate" stats are those gays marrying illegals... Hmmm...er of the day...

Yet immigration is a major issue, Alia. Can't be ignored and the clamp down *must* happen.

Most recent intelligence reports say Latino gangs are aligning with al Qaeda and working on entering the US for attacks thru the very porous Mexican border.

Where 100% success in border control is a pipe dream, we can sure do better than we are.

Yo, hey! So CAL keeps honking about the gangs out of, hmmm... Malaysia? More deadly than all the previous gangs -- entering the borders and wrecking havoc. I think we need Edgar Friendly and Mr. Demolition Man to return and wake up the "gently used" intelligentsia.
