He's not defending himself. He's bleeding for our military, and he wishes the MSM would too. He wishes the MSM could comprehend for just one Christmas-miracle moment, the ties between our military and we who love these men and women.
I just got a line; and the first thing I did was answer email to those I love across the sea, assuredly doing duty; but they do more than that. If you only knew these men and women without that "front page" lens the MSM so often presents. MSM: Let it slip, if only for a moment.
I know why the MSM does not. It is because their hearts would melt. And what they consider their "scrutiny" of the Iraq matter -- would dissolve. And they think they would have nothing, no power, nothing to write about.
That's the falsehood.
And then there's Steve-o! He's over 21. :) He's the lone conservative amid a multi-layered family of liberals. His family supports this war; and they are led primarily in this view due their unconditional love and support of him. A well read young man.
Both men are engaged to be married.
You hurt when they hurt. You laugh when they laugh. And you bear up no matter how they come home; back to us.
Let me tell you about Mick. I already have. But enough time has passed, and I can tell you this:
I do not know when a "death" has stung as hard and as sharply. I've been through a number of deaths in my years. But Mick's death was the hardest. I still cry.
You'd never know it on the outside.
And you don't understand why his death was the hardest of all the deaths, O ye MSM.
Mick was so full of bloom; and of all that Americans hold dear -- that promise of laughter and joy and of future.
He appreciates and honor which I do, and my place in life.
He sang the noble song, so that I might continue to carry forward in an existence that he believed in. He sought to protect me from dangers known and unknown. He sought to see that I might know my grandchild; but he didn't know that she was born. He only knew she existed as a dream and a future. And he fought for that dream to become reality. That she might one day take up her place fashioned for her by our Creator in this which we call "time".
Mr. Rumsfeld knows these men and women who fight for us. And why they fight. He has no need of defending himself against straw-man arguments.
Instead, he does ache and hurt for the military; and the stings are deep. And this is what drives him -- to ensure that the goals of those who voluntarily choose to serve and protect become reality. Not just for those who serve, but for those who live in the state of noblesse oblige.
But 'tis not all noblesse. We who love these men and women understand and share Mr. Rumsfeld's passion and vision. And you, who would fault this man, Mr. Rumsfeld, on such absurd charges -- render yourselves as meaningless. Your critique is not honest nor is it earnest.
You have a wall of separation between yourselves and those who serve -- but only because your fear-based religion demands it.
You shall not have ultimate sway.
The military? Theirs is the religion of life.
Yours is not. Yours is the religion of abstractionist absurdity stemming from your own insecurities and doubts.
Yes, you shall die, also, one day. But you shall not die with the very honor which can only reside in the temple of your soul.
Those who serve, like Mr. Rumsfeld. Like Daniel and Steve-o -- in their time know that effervascent light eternal. And when they die? They know "rest" in their peaceful slumber.
And that light? It is stronger than any made by mortal man. And everlasting. And that's the part you fear to understand.
For you think it will condemn you in ways you will not be able to countenance.
That's the first premised lie you adhere to, MSM. And you'd best come to terms with that.
We, of the not active duty, would, when we see your photos of those hurt and harmed, rather it be us, me, than him, or her.
And this is only a wee part of which you do not understand.
Truly, I wish you a Merry Christmas.
Come to terms with your fearfilled insecurities, and then you too shall know the very meaning of:
Merry Christmas.
God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, Let Nothing You Dismay. And our military and those who work within and with the military are gentlemen and gentlewomen. Nothing dismays them.
Therein lies a whole sea of difference between those who serve mankind, and those who seek to manipulate mankind, in the name of "intelligentsia".
Only the lost are fooled.

Beautiful tribute for Christmas, or for any day of the year, dear Alia.
Grasp the warmth of the memories of all ye have loved and hold them dear, and embrace the promise of all the love yet to come your way.
And have the Merriest of Christmases.
